What the Horse Council does...

Welcome to the Weld County 4-H Horse Advisory Council web site. Our group consists of adult and junior volunteers who advise Extension staff on 4-H youth horse program development, assist in coordinating 4-H Horse Project activities, develop and recommend guidelines for unity and consistency in educational activities and serves as a resource in resolving issues relating to Weld County 4-H horse projects. What's New in 2014

Project Horse ID's
The horse identification process is now being managed online at co.4honline.com, just as you did when you signed up for your projects. The information to identify the animal remains the same but must be entered into the system and updated each year with changes in age of the horse. See more on the Horse ID procees on the following page.
Rules for use of a shared project horse by siblings have been modified. Siblings are now allowed to share a project horse, if this is the only horse identified for the 4-H year and siblings are in different age groups. Detailed information is provided in the Horse ID section of this packet.
Ranch Horse Pleasure
This year we’ve added a class, Ranch Horse Pleasure to the Ranch Horse Division at fair. Be on the lookout for a Tuesday Night Rides for special instruction about this fun class. Class information is provided as an attachment at the end of this horse packet.
Premier Exhibitor
The Premier Exhibitor Horse contest was a huge success in 2014. Some suggestions from the judges were provided from last years competition. Because the fairgrounds is so large, it is very important that the judge knows where to find you to perform their judging duties. Some suggestions would be to clearly display your name at your stall or trailer and that it remains visible, even in the wind. Another idea is to include the location on your display board. Also, please ensure your display board remains upright throughout the entire horse show. We can’t wait for next year. Detailed information is provided at the end of this packet. You may also refer to the fair book or ask a Horse Council Member about this great opportunity to stand out in the Horse Project.
